Friday Letters

Dear Autumn, Can you please just be friends with Tony already? I’m getting really tired of Tex playing referee and barking at you both whenever you fight. Get over yourself… Tony’s really nice and he just wants to be your friend.

Dear Tony, If you left Autumn alone for a bit, maybe she’d come around. Also, you make my day when you greet me at the door alongside Tex. You too are the cutest.

Dear Tex, how do you feel about becoming a vegetarian? I don’t know if I can consciously allow you to eat meat anymore…

Dear Parents, I know you think I’m crazy with my pro-vegetarian conversations lately, but you still need to read Eating Animals.

Dear Rain, Thanks for staying away last weekend so my friend’s wedding was sunny. Also, thanks for watering my garden so much on Sunday and Monday, so I didn’t have to worry about it all week. I appreciate you.

Dear Cassie, Mom and I are coming to see you tomorrow. I hope you don’t mind that I’m hanging out with Jessi instead of shopping with you and mom. By the way, you looked mighty pretty in the dress I let you borrow for the wedding…

Dear Jessi, I hope we have enough time to go to the Aquarium. I think we’d have a blast.

Dear Traffic, Please sleep until past 11 tomorrow. It is the weekend after all.

Dear Blog Friends, I hope you all of your weekends are whatever you need them to be.

Happy Friday!

  1. Dear Frankie, My vegetarian student has advised dogs can be vegetarian’s while cats cannot be vegetarians. But ask yourself, could poor little Tex really survive on carrots and string beans? We could give him the other type of beans, but you know about the other little problem he has, it might get unbearable! And if he is going to be denied meat, you need to get him a canine friend so he could keep his little canine identity in this crazy human world!

Looking forward to a great dinner Saturday night, vegetarian and organic!

And you looked terrific in your twirling yellow dress last week at the wedding, even better while you danced the night away! Love you gorgeous girl, Mom (and maybe I will read the book in the summer!)

    • I didn’t know that about Cats. But I do know that they actually make vegetarian dog food. It’s at Trader Joes. We’re gonna buy some and see if Tex likes it. I’m more concerned about denying him rawhides/ bones than I am about not giving him table scraps of meat.

  2. Beautifully written post, Frankie. I love all of the people (and pets) you addressed in this week’s edition. I hope you have the greatest time with your friend this weekend. I absolutely love Baltimore and wish I could get there myself!

    • Thanks Rose! I’m excited for my visit. Cass actually lives just outside of Baltimore, so I’ve only been to the actual city a few times. I’m excited to explore a bit more this time! Have a lovely weekend.

  3. My pug eats vegetarian (http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dogformulas/Vegetarian.html) and loves it. I gave him a milkbone recently and he was not interested. Instead. he goes crazy for his blueberry treats (http://www.petsupermarket.com/Products/PetSupermarket/PID-791049057.aspx).

He only went vegetarian because he was allergic to EVERYTHING. I, on the other hand, went veggie 2 years ago, so he led the way at our house.

BTW – I 2nd the traffic request. I was up at 4AM and am ready to zonk out all night tonight.

    • Awesome! I’m glad to hear that vegetarian diet worked for your pug. I’m defintely going to give it a try with Tex. I’ve been a pescatarian for three years, but I’m making different choices having just read Eating Animals. No more fishies for me (except if my dad catches them perhaps..) I would’ve cried if I’d woken up that early, as it is I’ve been waking up on average ten minutes before my alarm all week! It’s obnoxious. Have a great weekend!

  4. Eating Animals is one of my favorite books. John Safran Foer is my favorite contemporary authors, and proved he is adept at writing both fiction and nonfiction. I’ve been a vegetarian for 11 years, but I haven’t taken the steps to convert my dog to non-meat food and treats. I may have to check out some of the resources people wrote about in the comments about vegetarian dog food. Happy Friday!

    • It was definitely a life-changing book. I’m going to check out more of his work thanks to your glowing review. Switching Tex over to a vegie diet is the next logical step in not supporting factory farms. :)

      • Definitely do. He wrote Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (you may have seen the movie), and Everything is Illuminated (there is also a movie). I’d recommend reading the books first if you haven’t seen the movies. I liked the movies, but they don’t compare to the books. Hope you enjoy them!

      • I haven’t seen either movie nor read the books so I’ll definitely give them both a read! Thanks for the recommendation.

  5. Dear Autmn, I can see you distain from this picture and it cracks me up

Dear Tex, Have you told Frankie to look at Halo pet food? Ellen owns it and it is enviro friendly magic food

Dear Frankie, We did it was awesome. I am commenting on so many things tonight

I cherish all my comments! Thanks for stopping by.
